SHARP Literacy's Mission
SHARP partners with educators to foster a love of learning and brighten children's futures through innovative STEAM-based experiential programs.
The VP drives the mission, vision, strategic direction and oversight of STEAM education and ensures programming is progressive, engaging, impactful, and pedagogically sound. The VP ensures that the Education Department has the skills, tools, personnel, and knowledge necessary to maintain, improve, enhance, and expand all aspects of SHARP's educational programs and ensures programming produces measurable results. The VP develops programs that will help close or lower the opportunity gap by building students' and educators' sense of self-efficacy and nurtures and supports their growth.
Provides direction to a highly energetic, creatives and hardworking staff.
Avidly follows promising new trends in STEAM Education.
Leads, collaborates, and executes in a fastmoving environment and expanding organization.
Leverages technology to support and enhance students’ growth as future-ready learners.
Leads by listening, having a collaborative mindset and enabling those you partner with (internally and externally) to foster positive and productive relationships.
Collaborates with the President, staff, Education Committee, STEAM Committee, and the board of directors to provide guidance for the organization’s potential for academic impact, sustainability and growth through data-driven decision making.
Stays abreast of changes in educational trends and current research for SHARP to be proactive and responsive when addressing schools’/districts’ changing needs and accountability measures.
Works in conjunction with the President, Education Staff and External Researcher in developing, implementing and evaluating SHARP’s educational programs and ensure they are aligned to all appropriate standards.
Develops and executes educational budget line items that address the needs of the organization, department, and schools in a fiscally responsible manner.
Works with Education Staff to create, facilitate and conduct professional development activities for schools, community partners, and families.
Plays an active role and provide leadership with the Young Authors Workshop and the collaborative process of developing the We Love to Learn books.
Five or more years of experience as an innovative educator with a significant track record of developing and implementing STEAM programming.
Educational experience working with schools, CLC’s, districts outside of the classroom developing and implementing innovative new practice and approaches with a track record of helping an organization realize its full potential.
Graduate degree in Education or related field.
